Do I need a Water Softener System in Woodland, California?

There are certain things we don’t think about, especially when they involve extra costs. However, depending on where your water is coming from, you may seriously want to look into getting some sort of water softener system and treat your water.

What is hard water?

Water that comes from the faucet contains minerals that have dissolved including magnesium, calcium, and other things. Most of the time consuming this water is safe. However, over time the elements that are contained within hard water may stain or degrade your fixtures, tubs, and pipes.

Note that there are certain places in the United States where tap water is not even drinkable. Although a rarity, Flint, Michigan has been struggling with this issue for years.

Fortunately, Woodland, California (and most of California) is in good hands and has clean and reliable water sources. Drought issues aside, most residential water in the state of California is safe to drink. Be sure to check with your local authorities for additional information about your water sources.

Should I get a water softener?

If your home is already equipped with a water softener and you don’t notice any major issues with hard water, you may want to continue using the water softener service.

If your home is not already equipped with a water softening solution, you may want to see if you have any problems with hard water stains, calcium, limescale, or rust build up around your fixtures or pipes. If so, you may want to consider getting a water softener.

If you are concerned about drinking water, we always recommend that you use a water filtration system such as a Brita Filter. Most modern refrigerators come equipped with filtered water systems.
